HARITHKRAM MODEL UNITED NATIONS ENVIRONMENT ASSEMBLY

DUSF'22 x H-MUNEA'23

Empowering future environmental leaders through diplomacy, climate action, sustainability discussions and collaborative solutions for a greener tomorrow.

Never doubt that a small group
of thoughtful committed
people can change the world.
Indeed it is the only thing that
ever has.

DUSF'22 x H-MUNEA'23

DUSF'22 x H-MUNEA'23 is a three-day youth conference and the fusion of Harithkram's two flagship events: Delhi University Sustainability Forum and Harithkram Model United Nations Environment Assembly. This fusion will mark the Fifth Edition of the Delhi University Sustainability Forum and the Sixth Edition of the Harithkram Model United Nations Environment Assembly.

With India hosting the G20 Presidency this year, Harithkram decided to take cue from the theme of India's G20 Presidency, i.e., Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, and highlight the interconnectedness of biodiversity and the role of youth vis-à-vis climate change and sustainability for its youth conference. Hence, the focal theme of Harithkram's two flagship events this year is “Youth For ‘One Earth, One Future’: Climate Change, Sustainability And Sustainable Practices.”

Under the aegis of the 5th Delhi University Sustainability Forum (DUSF), we will organize the Young Scholars' Conference (YSC), the School Students' Conference (SSC) and the National Photography Competition (NPC) and Exhibition with the aim to steer the future of our planet towards environmental sustainability through by adopting of sustainable practices. The twin events aim to provide participants, especially the young brigade from schools, with an unparalleled platform to participate in and witness the deliberations of a university-level conference and engage in meaningful interactions with esteemed scholars. This experience is sure to enhance their preparedness for higher education, motivation for research endeavours, and will also ensure their meaningful contributions to the society at large. The forum will also provide a dedicated platform to research scholars to present their ongoing research on climate change and sustainability, and share with the larger fraternity their research solutions for sustainable practices that could potentially ensure a holistic turn for the “One Earth, One Future,” which is, willy-nilly, our shared predicament.

The 6th Harithkram Model United Nations Environment Assembly (H-MUNEA) will provide a one-of-its-kind platform for young scholars hailing from various backgrounds to engage in intensive brainstorming, debates, and discussions about the pressing challenges facing our common future, specifically centred around climate change, sustainability and sustainable practices. By fostering such discourse, HMUNEA aims to enrich the understanding and knowledge surrounding environmental issues while focussing on the role that youth can play towards their shared future.

Delhi University Sustainability Forum 2022

Delhi University Sustainability Forum is the brainchild of Harithkram’s endeavour to spread awareness “Beyond the Boundaries,” which provides a revolutionary platform for the students to deliberate on and discuss intriguing issues related to the fields of energy, environment and sustainable development and find practical solutions to environmental problems in association with worldwide thinkers and practitioners coming from governments, business and industries, multilateral and bilateral organizations, research and academia and the civil society. It also aims to discuss worldwide industrial development, associated environment and sustainability analysis, and provide innovative solutions to local industries and governments to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This Fifth Edition of the Delhi University Sustainability Forum will comprise two events in addition to the DUSF Plenary Session on the focal theme.

  1. Young Scholars Conference (YSC) - This will provide a platform exclusively dedicated to young researchers, independent researchers and working professionals (with at least 02 years of research experience) under the age of 35 who are actively engaged in research about the field of Environment and Sustainable Development. They will deliberate on the focal theme “Youth For ‘One Earth, One Future’: Climate Change, Sustainability And Sustainable Practices.”
  2. School Students’ Conference (SSC) under the School Outreach Programme - This conference is meant for school students to discuss and deliberate on the allied theme: “Youth and Sustainable Practices.”
  3. National Photography Competition (NPC) – The National Photography Competition on “Youth For ‘One Earth, One Future’: Climate Change, Sustainability And Sustainable Practices” and an Exhibition on environment-friendly practices.

Harithkram Model United Nations Environment Assembly 2023

The first session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) of the United Nations Environment Programme was convened on June 23, 2014, at the UNEP headquarters in Nairobi with more than 1200 participants including Environment Ministers, Government delegates and representatives of major groups and stakeholders. It was indeed a historical event wherein the environment formed the focal point of discussions in the international community. Taking a cue from UNEA, Harithkram started its journey of hosting the mock UNEA in 2014 with a shared vision of setting up a path of environmental sustainability.

The Sixth Edition of the simulation of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) by Harithkram offers young scholars from varied backgrounds a forum to brainstorm, debate and discuss pressing environmental concerns and enrich the discourse on the environment. It is a splendid opportunity for young voices to play their part in ensuring a clean and green environment and a better, holistic future, through environmental advocacy and diplomacy.

Inspired by the ever-increasing awareness of the environment along with a genuine mission to promote and protect it, H-MUNEA ’23 will provide a platform to the youth who always wished to register their voice for a sustainable future.
